Dr Marcelle Crowther completed her undergraduate training at the University of Pretoria in 2010. While completing her Community Service, Dr Crowther discovered her love for both anaesthesia and obstetrics. She obtained her Diploma in Anaesthesia, as well as Diploma in Obstetrics after completing Medical Officer time in both these disciplines. As a registrar in the Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine, Groote Schuur Hospital, she obtained her FCA from the Colleges of Medicines of South Africa and her MMed (Anaesthesia) from the University of Cape Town in 2019. She is proud to be a Consultant in the Department and is currently a PhD candidate at UCT, with her research focusing on quality improvement projects to reduce obstetric haemorrhage during and after caesarean section in Africa, a testimony to her passion for obstetrics. She is a mom to two busy boys, two awesome dogs and wife to a physician.
